Volunteer Position: Social Media Content

📍 Location: Remote
🕒 Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week (flexible)
📅 Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment preferred
💼 Reports To: Executive Director and Head of Social Media Development Volunteer

🌟 Purpose of the Role
The Social Media Content Volunteer helps bring the nonprofit’s mission to life through digital storytelling. This role supports the organization’s online presence by creating and publishing engaging, relevant, and visually appealing content across platforms. Content Volunteers play a key part in inspiring action, building awareness, and honoring the service of US Military Members, Veterans, and First Responders.

📋 Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Publishing-Create social media content (graphics, captions, hashtags) on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and other platforms as directed
-Use templates or brand guidelines to maintain visual consistency and message accuracy
-Submit work to be reviewed and approved by the Head of Social Media Development Volunteer and Executive Director
-Support a minimum of 1 post per platform each week individually to contribute to the team's goal of 2 posts per platform each week

Collaboration & Coordination-Work under the guidance of the Head of Social Media Development Volunteer and Executive Director
-Submit drafts for review and incorporate feedback in a timely, professional manner
-Participate in occasional planning or brainstorming session

Engagement Support-Monitor basic post engagement and notify leadership of notable activity or messages
-Uphold professionalism when representing the organization in any public replies or interactions

Content Alignment-Ensure that messaging aligns with the organization’s values, mission, and the experiences of its target communities
-Help promote campaigns related to programs, events, and community outreach efforts

🎯 Ideal Skills & Qualifications
-Familiarity with the demographics, culture, and challenges of current and former U.S. Military Service Members and First Responders
-Professional, dependable, and respectful communicator with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
-Able to handle feedback with maturity and make decisions that reflect the mission and values of the organization
-Strong understanding of major social media platforms and an interest in digital content creation
-Experience with tools such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, Later, or Buffer
-Capable of collaboration and adjusting work as directed
