Volunteer Role: Route Guide – Operation Return To Base Walk/Run/Ruck Event

🧭 Purpose
To ensure participants stay on the correct route, remain safe, and are motivated throughout the event.
Route Guides are essential for smooth event flow and a positive participant experience.

📋Tasks & Responsibilities
-Direct participants at designated checkpoints or turns
-Alert event staff of any emergencies, injuries, or safety concerns
-Cheer on participants and offer encouragement
-Monitor route conditions (e.g., debris, obstacles, etc.)
-Assist with setup or takedown of cones and signage in assigned areas

Time Commitment
Event Day:
October 4, 2025
Time: 0745 - 0545
Shift: Throughout the day with alternating active and rest periods (approximately 1–3 hours working, 1–3 hours resting)

📍 Location
-Assigned route point along the event path (locations determined during pre-event briefing)
-Volunteers must report to the check-in area by 0750

Skills & Qualifications

Friendly and approachable demeanor
-Comfortable standing or walking outdoors for several hours
-Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly
-Situational awareness and basic problem-solving ability
