Volunteer Position: Funding Coordinator

🕒 Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week (flexible)

🌟 Purpose of the Role
The Funding Coordinator Volunteer plays a key role in supporting the financial sustainability of the organization. This role involves identifying funding opportunities, assisting with proposal submissions, and maintaining records of donor and grant outreach. By helping to secure financial support, this volunteer ensures that the nonprofit can continue serving U.S. Military Service Members, Veterans, and First Responders through impactful programs and events.
📋 Key Responsibilities
Research & Outreach-Identify and track relevant grants, sponsorship opportunities, and donor leads
-Research funding opportunities for feasibility and relevance
-Assist in drafting and submitting grant applications or sponsorship proposals
Donor & Sponsor Coordination-Maintain accurate records of donor communication and pledged support
-Help track deadlines, follow-ups, and reporting requirements for active funding sources
-Assist in planning or organizing thank-you letters, small donor appreciation efforts, or recognition campaigns
Collaboration & Strategy-Work closely with the Executive Director
-Align funding efforts with organizational priorities
-Participate in regular check-ins and planning calls
-Provide updates on outreach progress and suggest improvements or opportunities
🎯 Ideal Skills & Qualifications
-Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to write clearly and professionally
-Familiarity with or interest in fundraising, grant writing, or nonprofit development
-Comfort using spreadsheets, email tools, and shared documents to track outreach
-Professional, courteous, and persistent when engaging with potential funders or partners
-Understanding of the needs and values of U.S. Military Service Members, Veterans, and First Responders
